
Welcome to Something
Else, Ball State's premiere Sketch Comedy Group! We’re always looking for
the best and brightest to join our organization. We really
want people who want to get involved with the comedy
scene at Ball State. Motivated, dedicated, hard working
FUNNY people. People who are not afraid to stand up in
front of 30 or 300 people and tell a joke or story, people
whose brains flow with ideas and thoughts that want to
get them down on paper or film.
Overview
Something Else (SE) is Ball State’s premier sketch
comedy group. Though Something Else originally was a
full format 30 minute show, the group now
tackels sketch comedy on "new media" outlets [aka The Web]. SE also
produces a weekly radio show/podcast on WCRD and iTunes, produces short films, writes and composes music and keeps an online
blog.
Something Else has something going on
almost every day. Here is a mini-weekly breakdown.
SE General Meetings – Every
Tuesday, 10:00PM. Mandatory for all members.
SE Films - Weekly, Location TBA.
BSU Stand Up - Almsot every other week at MoTini's (above MT Cup), SE is a
SE Writers Meetings - Weekly, Location TBA.
SE PR Meetings - Weekly, Location TBA.
SE Radio Shows – Weekly, WCRD.
Pre-Production Meetings/Rehearsal – Various
locations. By schedule only.
Shoots – Various locations.
Weekends, but sometimes weekdays. Carpools typically
meet in The Atrium near Starbucks. By schedule only.
Dues
Something Else is a non-profit official Ball State organization.
All organizations require dues to function. Something
Else dues are $25/year.
Equipment
With due payment, members who have taken the Introduction
to Video class or as by recommendation of the Executive
Producer are allowed to check out camera equipment
to use on Something Else shoots. Equipment is available
in the Media Lab in the Ball Communications Building. First
year members will be expected to learn how to shoot
and edit by the end of their Freshman year.

Something Else uses an online Forum as the main hub of
communication. All meeting notes, pitches, shoot dates,
scripts are posted online. We also use the forum to
send out mass emails to all members. If you
want to become a member of SE, it is extremely
important that you sign up for the
Forum, join the Cast & Crew section, and check
it daily.
Here’s how to sign up and get Cast & Crew Access:
Step 1 (Register)
Go to somethingelsetv.com/forum, and click on the REGISTER
button. Fill out mandated information. Please make
your Username your own name; for example, my username
is Al LeVine, not allevinerox6969. Be professional.
Step 2 (Secret Cast & Crew access)
Email info@somethingelsetv.com your Forum username, your
full name, phone number, and AIM/iChat. We will then
give you access to the Cast & Crew section of our
website.
Step 3 (Participate)
After your information has been confirmed via email (within
12 hours, but usually 1-6), go to somethingelsetv.com/forum,
login, and join in the conversation.
